Accepting God's Choice

God has a plan for this world and for each of us, as individuals. He knows what is best, so His choice is always the best in any situation. However, that doesn't mean that God forces His choices on us. We have the ability to accept His choices or to reject them. If we are wise, we will accept God's choices, but most of the time most people reject God's choice for their own. Then, they wonder why things don't go well.

God's choice was to be the King over Israel, but they rejected His choice. They asked for a king like the other nations had. God gave them one in the person of Saul. It didn't work out well, so He chose David to succeed Saul. (II Samuel 3:17,18) Abner had been Saul's army commander, but after Saul's death, he started working with the elders of Israel to make David the king over all Israel. He declared David to be God's chosen one and for that to be the time. The questions was, "Would the people accept God's choice this time?"

I believe it is God's desire for every person who is ever born to come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I believe He shows them that Jesus is the right choice. He is God who came to earth in love to redeem mankind by His death, burial, and resurrection to pay for our sins and defeat Satan. However, many people reject Jesus, and they make the choice to do things their way. They are separated from God forever in Hell because of rejecting God's choice.

I also believe that God has choice for us in every situation of life, and we are to talk with Him and listen to Him and His Word, so we know His choice, and we can accept His choice. God has a job for us, a college or trade school for us, and these are based on our personality and our gifts. I believe He has a spouse for us, or that it is His choice for us to remain single. I could go on and on with God's choices. The main thing is that we accept His choices, so our lives will follow His plan which is to give us an abundant life in Christ.
