Hesitating to Do God's Will
Sometimes being hesitant to make a decision can be a good thing. It can give us time to think and to pray about what to do. If we had not hesitated, we would have done the wrong thing in our haste. However, when it comes to doing God's will, it is never good to hesitate. At that point our hesitation can cause us to miss His will completely.
When Lot and his family were warned to flee from Sodom, he was very hesitant to leave his home, even though the angels told him it was all going to be destroyed. (Genesis 19:16) "When Lot still hesitated, the angels seized his hand and the hands of his wife and two daughters and rushed them to safety outside the city, for the Lord was merciful." We need to stop and let God speak to us through this verse.
When God tells us to do something, we need to do it right then. We must not hesitate. God always has a reason for revealing His will to us when He reveals it. He means for us to be instantly obedient to Him. If we delay our obedience, or we are partially obedient, we are sinning. We are not fully trusting God and His wisdom. We think we know better what to do than God does. That is never true.
Therefore, if we hesitate, we can miss our opportunity to do God's will. There may not be time for a second chance for us to obey. God can still get His will done in another way, but we miss the blessing of being used by God. Sometimes, God is merciful, like He was with Lot, and He gives us more time, even dragging us along. However, we can't always count on God's mercy, because His mercy has limits. So please, never hesitate to do what God is telling you to do immediately.
