Passing On The Truth

It has been rightly said that this could be the final generation of Christians in this world. The only thing that has to happen for that to become a reality is for us, as Christians, to fail to share the truth with others. I am afraid we are seeing a lack of sharing in a lot of circles today. However, if we were to all take the truth of God and salvation and share it with as many people as we can, there could come a day when everyone in the world has had an opportunity to trust Jesus, and many more people would be saved. The choice is up to us.

Paul gave a command to Timothy that shows how this strategy is God's plan for us, as believers. (II Timothy 2:2) He told Timothy to take the things that he had heard from Paul as he taught among many witnesses and to commit them to faithful men, who would be able to teach others also. This is clearly the process of passing on the truth and even seeing the number of Christians multiply, so the world is covered with the truth.

I imagine most of us have heard a lot of sermons and Bible study lessons over the years. We have heard the truth of God's Word and we understand it. How many of us have taken what we have learned and taught someone else? Yes, I know not all of us are teachers. We don't have to be a gifted teacher to simply share what we have heard and what we know to be the truth. Just think how the people around us would benefit from our sharing. It would be much more profitable that just talking about the weather and sports.

This is what we should be doing every day as we go through our lives. When we meet people in public, we can take a moment to share a verse or something God has taught us. However, it is even better to make a plan to choose a group of people to teach, like Paul told Timothy. Then, we can meet with that group over a period of time and pass on the truth to them, while encouraging them to pass it on to others. Please, pray about how God wants you to fulfill this command and then, do it.
