Grace, Mercy, and Peace
I wonder what we would find out if we asked a large group of people what are the three things they need most for a great life? I would imagine that many of them would mention money. Others would probably say something that had to do with having a spouse or a good family. I am sure that there would be those who focused on finding the right career. However, I do not think these things are the keys to a great life.
The Bible gives us these three things in a lot of places, but we have a good summary from Paul to his son in the ministry, Titus. (Titus 1:4) They both held to a common faith as they followed the Lord Jesus, and Paul prayed for him to have grace, mercy, and peach from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ their Savior. I believe those three things are what everyone needs to have a great life.
Grace is God freely giving us what we could never earn or deserve. We are saved from our sins by the grace of God through faith in Jesus. Everyone has sinned, so everyone needs forgiveness to have a great life here and in eternity. Also, we are to live by grace through faith every day after we get saved. We must trust God to continue to give us what we can't earn or deserve, and He will lead us through life.
We all need mercy, though, because we will all fail at times. Mercy is when God doesn't punish us as much as we deserve to be punished. He corrects us, but allows us to learn and grow through our mistakes. Finally, we all need the peace of God to fill our hearts every day. God's peace is effective to calm us and give us hope, even in the midst of severe trials. We will all have trials, so we need His peace all of the time. That is why I believe grace, mercy, and peace are what everyone needs to have a great life now and forever.
