Mission Accomplished

It is a great feeling to finish a task which has been assigned to us. This is especially true when it is a huge undertaking like winning a war or writing a book. It is one of those times in life when we can sit back and relax, but the main thing we need to do is to thank God and to give Him all the glory for giving us the strength to accomplish our mission.

Joshua and the people of Israel had a moment like this. (Joshua 11:23) Joshua took the whole land in accordance with everything that the Lord had spoken to Moses. Joshua gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to the divisions by their tribes. So the land was at rest from war. We all need these times of accomplishment and peace.

As Christians, we do not make up our own plans for what we need to do in our lives. Our directions come from God. We are to follow His plan. Sometimes we receive our assignment from God's prophet who delivers His message, and other times, God shows us directly. Either way, we are to do God's will in His way until we finish the work.

Once we accomplish God's mission, we can look back and see His hand in all that we were able to do. We can even see how it fits with what He gave others around us to do. What we are doing extends God's kingdom in some way, so that people come to know the Lord and follow Him faithfully. Then, those people are led to build on what God has done through us.
