The End of Humanity

All of my life there have been threats that could lead to the end of humanity. One of my memories of elementary school was having to go home and hide in the crawlspace to be protected from a possible nuclear missile attack from Cuba.  Then, for all of the Cold War we heard of the possibility of "Mutual Assured Destruction" if Russia sent missiles toward the US. None of this ever came to pass because God is in control, and it was not in His plan.

However, there was a time when God brought an end to humanity on the earth, except for Noah and his family. (Genesis 6:13) God told Noah, "The end of humanity has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence because of people; and behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth," We need to hear what God told Noah then and learn from it.

God did not plan on having to send a flood on the earth and start over with the human race. He wanted the people to worship Him and listen to Him, but from the very beginning people went into sin, and sin grew worse and worse. Finally, the earth was filled with violence because of people. Then, God had to make a choice. He could watch them destroy themselves or start anew. He chose the later.

Noah was righteous and blameless before God and others. He had led his family well. However, even then sin came back into the scene, but God promised not to destroy the earth with a flood again. There will be a time when He brings an end to life as we know it, though. It will come as mankind gets farther and farther from God. Then, He will send Jesus to set up His kingdom, and finally to destroy the earth and the heavens with fire, so He can make a new heavens and earth that are without the effects of sin forever.
