Blessed by God

I believe all of us would like to be blessed in our lives. I meet people all the time who are drowning in debt. Others have one problem after another. Also, I see people who are just not satisfied with what they do have. That is why I say we would all like to be blessed to have what we need to have a good life. There is a way for this to happen.

Abraham took his family to Gerar because there was a famine in the land, and God promised to bless him and his family if they stayed in the land instead of going to Egypt. (Genesis 26:12)  Then, Abraham's son, Isaac, sowed crops in that land and reaped one hundred times as much; and the Lord blessed him. Isaac did the right things to be blessed by God.

The first key to being blessed by God is to go where He sends us and to do what He tells us to do. To do this, sometimes we have to move to a new land and trust the Lord to show us what to do. Also, God commands us to sow, if we desire to reap a harvest. Planting crops and cultivating them is difficult, but there is no reaping the benefits when we haven't done our part to do the work of sowing.

Then, when God is pleased by our obedience and diligence to work and produce a crop, He will bless our efforts by causing the harvest to be more abundant. Sometimes, it is more than we could have imagined because of the goodness of God. Therefore, it God's blessing on us that truly causes us to be blessed and have all we need, not just our own work.
