Calling Out, "Abba, Father"

Children are so dependent on their parents. They are quick to rush to them when they have a need. They cry out "Mama" or "Daddy." They know that the parent will care for them and solve the problem in a way that they can't do it themselves.

Paul uses this reality to make an important point about our relationship with God. (Galatians 4:6) He told the believers that because we are His children, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, "Abba, Father." What a privilege to be a child of God!

When we trust Jesus as our Lord and Savior, our sins are forgiven, so we can have a relationship with God. God brings us into this close relationship, not as a slave, but as a son or daughter. Yes, we do serve Him because He is Lord of all. However, He is also our Father, who greatly loves us.

Out of love He gives us the Holy Spirit to live in us. The Spirit guides us and empowers us to be able to live the Christian life. One thing He shows us is that we need to depend on God for everything. He shows us that we can call out to Abba, or Daddy, any time, and He will be there to lovingly care for us.
