Rescued by an Angel

Angels are very real. They are all around us all of the time. God created angels before He made the universe. They are His servants and His messengers. They are ready to do His will at any time. We encounter angels in different ways. Sometimes, we know we are seeing a supernatural being. Other times, angels appear to us in the form of humans. The book of Hebrews tells us to beware, because we could encounter angels at any time. Peter had one such experience when he was put in prison by Herod. (Acts 12:7) He was bound in chains in a dark prison cell. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter to wake him up, and the angel told Peter to get up quickly. At that moment the chains fell off of his wrists, and the angel led him to freedom. God is so good. He could send an angel to help us with anything we need, too.

Years ago, we were traveling back to Texas from Georgia when Chris as expecting our first child. An ice storm hit just as we were going through east Texas. We were driving very carefully, but the roads were clear. However, I drove across one bridge west of Athens Texas, and the road was all ice. We slid into the median, and the car sunk into the wet, icy mud all the way up to the doors. I managed to open the door and get out, but I did not know what I was going to do. Suddenly, a truck drove  up, and a man got out. He hooked a chain to our bumper and pulled us out, even though He did not have chains on his truck. When I turned to thank him, he was gone. There was no sign of him. I believe that was God's angel for us on that cold day. We made it home slowly but well, and Chris and the baby were fine. God is so good. I pray we can all relate to this incident, and we will all give God all of the thanks for watching over us and sending His angels when we need them.
