God Granting Us Access to Him

The Prophet Zechariah saw various visions from the Lord and communicated them to the people of God. Each one had a special meaning. God was telling His people that He was ready to bless them after punishing them for a long time because of their sins. God wanted to let the rulers and the people know what He was looking for the people to be and to do so He could bless them well. God hasn't changed. He is still looking for the same things from us today. In one vision God showed Zechariah the high priest, Joshua. (Zechariah 3:7) God told him that if he would walk in His ways and keep His mandates that Joshua would rule His house and take care of His courts. Also, He would grant Joshua access to Him among all of the leaders of the people. God gave this promise to the high priest, but now we, as Christians, are priests before the Lord, and He is looking for us to step up so He can bless us in these ways.

God is looking for us, as believers, to walk in His ways. It is not enough to know the Word of God, we must live it out in our daily lives. We must live like Jesus would live, doing God's will with the right attitude and actions. We do this by keeping the mandates of the Lord given in the Bible. The Bible is our light to show us the way to live every day, and now we have the Spirit to enable us to keep the mandates or commands, if we will just let Him fill our lives. When we are living like Jesus, God will give us authority to be leaders in His ministry here on earth. This is not just for ordained Christians. It is for all of us. God has a ministry for us to perform. The more we walk in His ways and keep His mandates, the more responsibility He entrusts to us and the more we are blessed to work on God's behalf.  In addition to this blessing, we are granted access to Him, even more than those around us who are not living like Jesus. He is listening for us to ask Him for what we need, and He is ready to answer in His will and His way. I believe this is a picture of living the abundant life God has planned for every one of His children.
