Be Strong and Work

Life is difficult. There is much for us to do. Sometimes we feel that we are too weak to do what we need to do. Other times we neglect to do our work, either out of laziness or fear. If we let these things stop us, we never accomplish our purpose in life. That is why God wants us to know something very important. As believers, we can always be strong and work, if we depend on the Lord and do what He has called us to do. He commands it, and what He commands, He enables us to do in His power. We must not let anything stop us. That was God's message to His people through the Prophet Haggai. God sent Haggai, because the people were not rebuilding the Temple as He had commanded. (Haggai 2:4) Therefore, Haggai exhorted the governor, the high priest, and all of the people in the land to be strong. He commanded them to work for He was with them. He also let them know that He was the Lord of Armies, so He had all of the power necessary for them to succeed. We have the same assurance today.

I wonder what is causing us not to be strong? Is it fear of known or unknown enemies? We may even feel inferior because of our background and feel unworthy. We must stop allowing Satan to discourage us and cause us to feel so weak that we disobey what God has told us. Once God gives us a command, there is no excuse for not accomplishing what God has told us. We need to get to work, all the time depending on Him for strength and courage. He will not let us down. However, it is up to us to trust Him and get to work. He will not force us to be strong and work. We must choose to be strong in the Lord and the power of His might. We must choose to work for the Lord. Then, God will enter the picture with us and give us all the courage and strength we need.
