You Have Captured My Heart

Do you remember when you fell in love with the love of your life? It is a magical moment for us, when we see that person. We are attracted to them by how they look or something about then. Then, all of a sudden we feel that touch on our heart. They capture our heart. Yes, I know love is not a feeling, but it is a choice. Still, we have something that causes us to decide to love the other person, and we are overwhelmed by love for them that lasts. This is the kind of love that Solomon had for his wife. (Song of Solomon 4:9) He confessed to her that she had captured his heart. With one glance of her eyes, with one jewel in her necklace, he had fallen in love with her. I pray that we all can relate to this description of Solomon's love and the power it had in his life. His heart was captivated by his wife.

I believe the Lord wants us to have a marriage relationship that includes this type of love. We should not just "like" the person we marry. We should love them and be captured by their love. That is what makes for lasting marriages, where our love for each other is fresh and growing as long as we live. Then, the same is true for our relationship with Jesus. We are saved by grace through faith. That is very true. However, the great commandment is to love the Lord with all of our heart. Yes, we are to so love Jesus that He captures our heart. The faith and the love go together. Without this type of love, it will be impossible for us to trust Jesus completely every day for the rest of our life. So I ask the question: "Has Jesus captured your heart?" He is so beautiful. He is more than enough to make you full of joy. His glance should be so special to us and draw us to Him every time. After all, we are His bride, the church, and He loves us with an unconditional, eternal love. That love should capture our heart, too. Then, we will spend eternity in love with Jesus, gladly doing His will.
