Shout in Triumph to God

I have written many times about the importance of worship and the meaning of worship. I believe we all know that it is how we show God how worthy He is and to honor Him for who He is. I also know that most of us sing when we worship the Lord. If you do not sing in worship to God, I just want you to know that you are sinning, because His Word commands us to sing to the Lord. However, today I want to add one more element of worship. It may be strange to some of us, but it is very Biblical and full of meaning. The psalmist admonished all of us to sing for joy to God our strength. (Psalm 81:1-2) Then, he quickly added the command to "shout in triumph" to the God of Jacob. Yes, we are to lift up a song - play the tambourine, the melodious lyre, and the harp. I wonder how many of us shout in triumph to God each time we worship our Lord? If we don't, we should.

When the army of Israel was victorious in a battle or a war, they had a time of rejoicing in which they shouted in triumph. It was truly worshiping God, because He was their strength, and He had given them the victory. They wanted to give Him all of the credit for their success. They did this with songs accompanied by instruments, but they did shout, too. They were so relieved that they had won and, God had spared their lives. Shouldn't we do the same thing in worship of the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ? God gave us the greatest victory anyone could ever win. We received eternal salvation, because Jesus purchased it for us by His blood. Now, we have life, abundant life, with victory over Satan and death once we trust Jesus a Lord and Savior. I believe that victory deserves a shout, don't you? Let's give Jesus all the glory for making us more than conquerors in Him, and let's do it every time we worship by shouting to the Lord and singing His praises.
