Justice and Righteousness for All

When we say the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, we say, "With liberty and justice for all." This is a very important principle for our country. We want all people to be treated equally, and no one to be left out from having liberty and justice. Also, we want full liberty and justice to be extended to each person. We do not want prejudice and unequal treatment of any kind. However, there could be something that is even more important than liberty and justice. We see this in the reign of King David over Israel. (I Chronicles 18:14) David reigned over all Israel administering justice and righteousness for all his people. I would submit that administering righteousness and justice is better than simply ensuring justice. Let me explain.

The Bible says that "sin is a reproach to any people." (Proverbs 14:34) That means that sins bring down a country. When other countries see us committing sins openly, they have a much lower view of us. However, the same verse assures us that "righteousness exalts a nation." When we live in righteousness before God and other people, we are exalted by God and by other nations who see our goodness. I believe this is what made America great in the beginning of our country. We practiced righteousness, and the laws of our country administered righteousness. Now, we have left that heritage, and our laws actually promote sin. That reality is bringing down our country. We need a great revival in the land, in which many people will turn to the Lord. Then, people will see the need for righteousness and elect people who will promote liberty and justice for all, as well as, righteousness. I know people will disagree with this for various reasons, but just consider that there can only be one righteousness, because there is only one True God. God has given us His Word to guide us in righteousness. Therefore, let's do it His way, instead of trying to do it man's way, which leads to unrighteousness.
