Completely Following the Lord

It is rare to find a person who does what he or she is supposed to do "completely." Many people are used to doing just enough to get by. Others do what they like to do completely, but all of the things that are not so pleasant they do only partially. This is not a good character quality. We all need to cultivate doing everything as unto the Lord and doing it completely as the Lord says. Jesus is the best example of this, as He did all that the Father sent Him to do, and He finished it completely. Another example was Caleb. When Moses sent him along with the 11 other leaders to spy out the land of Canaan, Caleb brought back a good report, and He followed the Lord completely, even though 10 of the spies were unfaithful. (Joshua 12:9) Because of this Moses gave him and his descendants the land he spied out as their inheritance forever. I believe this example shows us how God feels about what we do, too.

God is looking at all we do. He looks at our heart, first. He wants to make sure that we do His will with all our heart. That is a huge part of doing His will completely. If our heart is not right, our work is not pleasing to the Lord, no matter how much we do. Then, God is looking to see if we are immediately obedient to what He tells us to do. We must not put it off, because God's timing is best. Therefore, we must obey right when He calls us to follow Him completely. Finally, we must complete His will, no matter how long it takes or how hard it may be. Again, just think of Jesus going to the cross for us. He did not take any shortcuts. He was born a baby; He lived a sinless life, and He trained His disciples for 3 years. Then, He could say to the Father, "It is finished." I pray we will completely follow the Lord, too, so we will hear "Well Done" from the Father and receive our eternal rewards.
