Richly Clothed by God

A lot of people put a lot of effort and money into being clothed well. I am not into clothes that much, myself. That seems to be the exception, instead of the rule in our culture, though. We try to buy certain brands of clothes, so we have the right tags, markings, and styles. We believe our clothes help us impress the people we meet, and that could help us have more friends or a better job. In order to be well clothed, we can spend hundreds of dollars a year. Isaiah told us about the clothing God has for His children. (Isaiah 61:10) God's clothes are definitely the best, so we should rejoice in the Lord and exult in our God that we are clothed in His finest. Let me just say that God's clothing is far beyond anything we can get on this world, and it should bring us much more peace of mind that our outfits we wear here. Let's see how God adorns us.

God clothes His children in the garments of salvation. He gives us clean clothes that are not stained by sin, at all. His garments enable others to see Jesus in us, because He gives us a new heart, and we can live in His will. There is no more costly garments than the garment of salvation, since Jesus shed His precious blood and died for us, so we could have forgiveness and wear it forever. Then, God also gives us His robe of righteousness. He pronounces us "not guilty" of sins, and He gives us His righteousness, the righteousness of Christ. We do not become perfect, but we can grow to be more and more righteous, as we trust the power of the Spirit to empower us and guide us. God's garments are better than a bridegroom's garland or a bride's jewels. They shine brightly for all to see. They are eternal, and we will never need to buy any other clothing. What a wonderful gift! We don't have to try to impress anyone. We just walk in God's salvation and in His righteousness. Then, God will do the rest.
