Every Knee Will Bow

People are stubborn. We want to do  what we want to do. We want to do what we do in our own way, too. We are programmed by the flesh to be independent and do our own thing. Yes, we sometimes decide to go along with someone else's plans and do it their way. However, that is the exception and not the norm. The more we try to live like this, the more frustrated we become. We find out that we do not know what is best, and we can't cause everything to work out right. This should bring us to ask the question, "Is this the best way to live?" I can tell you that it is not the best way. Isaiah told us a long time ago what will ultimately happen. (Isaiah 45:23) God has sworn by Himself, and the word has gone forth from His mouth in righteousness, so it will not turn back, that every knee will bow and every tongue will swear allegiance to Him. In other words, He is the Lord, and we are the ones to submit to Him. There is not any question this will happen, but when will it happen?

God is constantly working on every one of us to get us to listen to Him. He draws us to put our trust in Jesus as our Lord and Savior. He calls us to listen to Him and do things His way. He convicts us of sin, righteousness, and judgment, so we realize that we have done wrong, we need to do right, and one day we will stand before Him in judgment. The wise thing  for all of us to do is to bow our knees and use our tongue to swear allegiance to Jesus right now. If we are too stubborn, and we resist His drawing and convicting, He lets us go our own way. He permits us to die in our sins, without every submitting to Jesus. Then, at the time of Judgment, we will be shown all of the times He gave us the opportunity to trust Jesus, but we refused. Finally, before He tells us to depart for Hell, we will bow our knees and swear allegiance with out tongue, but it will be too late for salvation then. He does that because He is Lord, and He deserves all of our worship that we withheld from Him in our life. In that moment we will do what we should have done early in our life. It will be the saddest moment imaginable.
