All Things Come from God

One main principle of life is that we are simply stewards of all we have and all we are. God has given us everything we have materially, and He has given us everything we have as a person, body, soul, and spirit. If we can ever fully realize this truth, it will help us in so many ways. After David showed Solomon and all of the people the things he had set aside for Solomon to use in constructing the Temple, He offered a prayer. Part of the prayer acknowledged that everything comes from God. (I Chronicles 29:14) David was humbled by the offering he and the people had given for the house of God. He was overwhelmed that God had blessed them to be able to give so much. Then, he told God that all they had given had come from Him. I pray we all learn this valuable truth.

Jesus said it best when He said, "Without Me you can do nothing." (John 15:5) His statement made it clear that everything we are able to do, we can do it because of His power and provision in our life. We have no energy or abilities that He did not give us. We have no possessions that did not come from His hand. When we buy anything, we should give Jesus thanks for providing the money to buy it. When we give an offering to the church, we should tell God that we are only able to give because of what He has provided for us. This should humble us, as it did David. It should get us in the frame of mind to fully depend on the Lord for everything we do, and to give Him thanks for all we are able to do and to give. I believe when we get to that place in life, we are most useful to the Lord.
