Sharing in the Victories

There are times in our life when it takes a group effort to win a victory. Sometimes, it takes our whole family working together to accomplish a goal. With the church it takes all of the members working together to see the devil defeated and people saved as we should see. Not everyone can be involved by doing the same task, but everyone is involved, so we all should share equally in the victory. David taught his men this principle after they defeated the Amalekites who had burned their city of Ziklag and taken all of their family members, possessions, and livestock. (I Samuel 30:24) He had 600 men, but only 400 went into the battle. The other 200 stayed by the baggage, but all had the same share of the spoils, besides receiving all of their family members and possessions back. I believe that is how God looks at all we do when it comes to working as an army or as a team.

The church is an army for the Lord. We are in a spiritual battle with Satan and his forces. Every member of each church must be actively obeying God, so we can see him defeated. There will be those who are on the battle line by dealing with other people who are under the sway of Satan. We enter into hand-to-hand combat, so to speak. However, for every one of us doing that, there are many people engaged in praying for us and for the Spirit to give us victory, as we are fighting. There are others who are the leaders who teach us all what to do and how to use our spiritual gifts in the struggles of life. We must all work as one to see the victories, so we all share alike in the results when a person comes to Christ or is delivered from Satan's power. We must be the body of Christ, so that each member fulfills his or her purpose in the body. Then, we will win, and we will all glory equally in the advance of the kingdom of God.
