This has to be the Son of God

God has a way to reveal himself to every person who is born, so they know He is alive, and they need to trust Him. He can do this so well, because He knows everything about each of us. He knows just how to get through to us, so we will understand and be brought to a point of decision. That is exactly what happened at the crucifixion of Jesus. The Roman soldiers were the ones who executed Jesus. They were very prideful and arrogant until wondrous things starting happening. The sun went dark for three hours. There was a terrible earthquake, too. Then, when they saw Jesus die, the captain of the guard and those with him had to proclaim, "This has to be the Son of God." (Matthew 27:54) Sounds like the Lord got through to him to me. What about you?

Romans did not believe in God. They believed in many gods, at least, on a shallow level. Soldiers were hardened by their life of fighting and subduing people all of the time. They had some of the hardest hearts of anyone. Then, when we think about a crew of soldiers who were given the job of killing people by crucifixion, we realize they had very thick skin and hardened consciences. All of that being true, they still came to know that Jesus was the Son of God. If God did that for them, which He did, He is still doing that for people today. The key is what a person does once God reveals Himself. Each one of them has to surrender to Jesus as the Son of God, the Lord and Savior of the world by turning from their sins and trusting Jesus alone for their salvation. I pray you will take this step today, before it is eternally too late. You will never regret it.
