Arrogance

God hates pride and arrogance. Even though God is All-powerful, All-wise, and All-knowing, He is not arrogant. He doesn't think more highly of Himself than He should. However, the same can't be said for people and countries. We are very limited in every way, but when pride comes in, it is easy for us to be arrogant. When we think more highly of ourselves than we should, it leads us to go our own way and not to trust the Lord. That is why God hates arrogance of any kind. He told Ezekiel to prophesy against Egypt and the Pharaoh of Egypt, because of their arrogance. They were the most powerful country in the world, but God was going to use the King of Babylon and his army to bring them down. He would come to destroy the country and kill many people. (Ezekiel 30:10,11) The end result was that Egypt would never be a world power ever again. Of course, God has done just that to Egypt, and He will do it to us, as individuals, and to our country if we allow arrogance to prevail.

I pray we will all search our hearts and ask the Holy Spirit to show us any pride or arrogance that may be in us. Then, we must confess it and repent of it, before the Lord brings us down. It is not a question of if He will bring us down, but when. God has given us a promise in the Bible in several places. He will humble the exalted, and He will exalt the humble. God always keeps His promises. Then, once we get pride and arrogance in check, we must remember that all we have comes from God. It is not from our intellect or strength. We must continually give Him praise and credit for whatever we can do or whatever we have. This will keep us from thinking more highly of ourselves than we ought to think. In turn, God will be able to exalt us and use us for His glory, because we will be trusting in Him and not in our own abilities.
