Our Rescuer

I never was a huge fan of the super heroes, like Superman or Batman, but they were fun to watch from time to time. The plot was usually pretty predictable. Some good person or group of people would get attacked by a sinister villain. The situation would become so bad that it seemed impossible for them to get away. Then, at last, the super hero would swoop in to save the day and rescue the good guys. It was a thrill to watch how he took care of the villain and brought relief to the captive. That is what God does for His people. Just like in Jeremiah's day, when He promised to rescue them from Babylon. (Jeremiah 50:34) Yes, heir plight seemed hopeless, being taken into exile by such a powerful nation. However, God is able. He rescued them at the right time, and He will do the same for us.

I pray we all know that God is our Rescuer. He is so strong. He is the God-of-the-Angel Armies. Can you just see the multitudes of angels assembling to carry out His will with supernatural power no one can withstand? Yes, the God-of-the Angel Armies will take our side in the conflict. One plus God is always a majority and a winning combination. He is there to bring soothing relief to us, while making short order of our adversaries. We need to get this reality into our hearts, so we will not lose heart and become depressed when things look grim. Remember, He is our Rescuer, and He is able to do whatever it takes to defeat Satan and his forces, no matter what it looks like to us.
