Reminders of God's Presence and Protection
Have you noticed that God is in the business of reminding us of the things He knows we will easily forget? I am sure we have all been reminded of things by God as we go through our day. It could be a special verse in the Bible reading for that day. God could touch us through a message from another person who is dear to us. He can use sights and sounds to make us remember something about Him. When that happens we are strangely warmed by the knowledge of His presence. Isaiah was told that God would do this in a very extraordinary way during the 1,000 year reign of Christ on this earth, the millennium. (Isaiah 4:5,6) Let's see what God will do and marvel at His desire for us to never forget His presence and protection over His children.
Remember the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night that accompanied the people of Israel through the wilderness for over 40 years? They were never without a reminder that God was with them. They could see His glorious presence in this miraculous sign for them that never went away. God will bring back that glorious sign for His people at that time. Also, God will mark out the residents of Jerusalem, the site of Christ's throne during that time. There will be something special about that city and its inhabitants. I suppose it could be a physical mark, but it could just be they are set apart from everyone else in the world, and they are aware that God's protection is over them to protect them from the sun and rain, as well as, any other enemies. I believe God does much the same for believers right now. We have eyes to see His presence around us when others are blind to the Lord. The Holy Spirit in us shows us His presence and reminds us of His protection, so we never need to be afraid. I pray that we all will look for God's reminders, and we will be secure in Him every day, never worrying if He is with us.
