God Will See To It

God put Abraham in a very difficult situation. He commanded him to take his son of promise, Isaac, up on Mt. Moriah and offer him as a burnt offering to the Lord. This was an unbelievable request, since God was against child sacrifice. However, Abraham knew what God said, and they set out with servants the next morning. When they got close to the place, Abraham and Isaac walked by themselves. Isaac looked at his father and asked him where the sheep was for the burnt offering. That must have broken Abraham's heart, but his reply was priceless. Abraham told his son confidently, "God will see to it that there's a sheep for the burnt offering." (Genesis 22:7,8) Let's look at the basis for Abraham's faith, so we can have the same type of faith.

Abraham knew that he could always trust God. He based this trust on the fact that God could see the future, and He planned things in advance, so that He was  never taken by surprise or left without an answer to a problem. He knew that God always provided what was needed through this process. Therefore, he was trusting God to see to it. I don't think he knew God would spare Isaac, but he knew He could raise him from the dead, if necessary. Abraham just knew that God would see to it that all turned out well, if he obeyed Him. We all need to have full confidence in God for this same reason. We never need to doubt God's provision and ability to see to it that His will is done and done completely.
