How the Mighty have Fallen!

Just think back through history and consider all of the powerful nations that are gone, or they are only a shadow of what they were before. How does this happen? I am sure each one has a unique story, but God has His hand in all that happens in this world. He is leading it all to His final conclusion. Egypt was a super power for over 1,000 years. When Israel was threatened, they would sometimes turn to Egypt for help and protection. Of course, that angered God, who wanted them to only trust in His strength. Therefore, in Ezekiel's time God brought Egypt down, and they have never recovered. God announced through Ezekiel that they would always remain a lowly kingdom, never ruling over the nations again. (Ezekiel 29:15) This is evident to all of us today, and it should be a sobering reality.

As we remembered September 11 yesterday, we should be reminded that even the greatest of super powers can be attacked. We should all know that if we proceed in our own power, we can be brought down. However, if we learn a lesson from Egypt and from Israel, we will trust in the Lord and His strength to protect us. Then, we will not fall, and we will be blessed by God. However, we need a great revival in the land for this to be a reality. God's people must turn to Him in repentance and confession, crying out to heaven for Him to forgive our sins and heal our land. That is my prayer, and I hope it will be yours as well.
