The Prophecy Against Egypt
Ezekiel did not only give God's message to Judah. He prophesied to all of the nations in the region. In each case his messages came true 100% of the time. One of them was against Egypt. He revealed that God was going to bring down the once mighty world power of Egypt and make them a lowly kingdom, never to reign over other countries again. (Ezekiel 29:14,15) Of course, that is what has happened, so we need to pay attention to what God told them.
God is able to turn the fortunes of any country. He can take them from the heights of power and put them down to the depths of poverty. He does this because of their rebellion against Him. In Egypt's case Pharaoh claimed to be a god, and he said that he made the Nile river himself. That is a terrible case of pride, and God fights against the proud. We could see the same thing today in the USA, if we do not get rid of our pride and turn to the Lord. He could turn our fortunes and make us a lowly kingdom. Also, He could restore our greatness, if we acknowledge Him as Lord. Which will it be? I am not sure, but I know the Lord is our only hope.
