Judge, Lawgiver, King

Isaiah proclaimed to the people the proper way to understand the authority of God. (Isaiah 33:22) They were worshiping idols of gold and silver. They were running to Egypt to help them with their enemies. All of this when God was the One who could save them. He had all authority and power over the whole earth. Let's see what he told us.

"The Lord is our Judge." God knows all of our motives, thoughts, and actions. Therefore, He can pass judgment on us better than anyone else in the universe. Then, add to that God is holy and righteous, so He always judges fairly. We should not run from God because that is futile. We should surrender to Him and do His will.

"The Lord is our Lawgiver." If you wonder what to do, since He is our Judge look to the laws He has given us. His laws are given for our good and the good of society. If we keep His laws, we will have the best possible life, since that is how His laws were designed. He designed them in love for us and in His desire to have a relationship with us that is real and personal.

"The Lord is our King." God is sovereign . He reigns over all of His creation with no peers. He is in control of all. However, He gives us a choice. We can submit to His authority, or we can rebel. If we rebel, His laws and His judgment will lead to our demise. However, if we submit, "He will save us." Yes, He saves us by His grace, because none of us are perfect, but His grace comes when we trust Him enough to bow to Him in humble faith. I pray that all of us will see the authority and power of God, so we can know Him fully through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 34-36.
