Restore Us and Revive Us, O Lord

God is so good to His people, but we take His goodness and guidance for granted. Often, we drift away from Him and His ways, because we neglect His Word and prayer. We even openly rebel against the Lord, following all sorts of idols. We need to be restored by God and revived, so that we live as lights in the darkness and stop compromising God's principles. That was the cry of the psalmists heart, and it should be the cry of our hearts today. (Psalm 80:7,18). It is up to us, though.

God never wants us to stray from Him. He would love to restore us to the place where we were in our lives before we departed from Him. He would love to give us the victory over our obstacles and enemies, as He did for Israel. However, He will not violate our will. He gives us to choice to follow Him or not. We must choose to call upon Him in repentance for our restoration. Once we do that in the sincerity of our hearts, the Lord not only restores us, but He revives us. He brings new vitality into our spiritual walk with Him. Then, we have a fire for the Lord. We allow the Spirit to be in control, so we have the desire and the ability to do His will in His way. That is God's desire for all believers all of the time, if we will just choose to stay on His path and reject the ways of this world.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 81-83.
