Ruth's Reward

Because of Ruth's loyalty, the Lord rewarded her abundantly beyond anything she would have thought or dreamed. (Ruth 4:10) Boaz redeemed the land of Mahlon, Ruth's deceased husband, and thus he acquired Ruth to be his wife. The purpose was to have a son to carry on the family name and inheritance. Therefore, God blessed Ruth with a loving husband to care for her, a son to love and cherish, and a place in the genealogy of Jesus. Her son, Obed, became the father of Jesse, who was the father of King David, and Jesus was a descendant of David. What a blessing!

None of this was an accident or coincidence. God always rewards faith and loyalty like Ruth had when she decided to believe in Naomi's God and to care for her mother-in-law. When we trust the Lord and live out His will for us, we can know that He will more than take care of us. We may not be wealthy or have a special family. However, it could be better than that. God knows what is best for us. We must simply trust Him and see what He has for us.

Tomorrow, I intend to read I Samuel 1-3.
