Eternity in Our Hearts
All over the world people consider eternity, and all religions have beliefs about what happens to us for eternity. Have you ever considered where the belief in eternity comes from if there is no God? Why would people even think of eternity, if we all just evolved from a single celled animal? The answer is that God has put eternity in their hearts. (Ecclesiastes 3:11) God created us, and He placed in our hearts and minds a belief about eternity. Some may deny it, but it is there for all of us.
God made everything that has been created in the universe. Everything is beautiful at some point, and there is a purpose for everything God made. He made people to live forever. That is why we have a spirit, and we can relate to God. Once we trust in Christ as Lord and Savior, we receive His Spirit, and we are alive with His life. Those who do not trust Christ still live for eternity, but they are separated from God, and they never have His life in them. However, all people know that eternity is real. We can't understand everything about God and the universe. We will never know it all. However, God has graciously given us a glimpse into eternity, and He has explained enough for us to know Him and follow Him.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Ecclesiastes 4-7.
