The Reign of God

Our God is the King of the Universe. His throne is forever and ever. His scepter is the scepter of righteousness. (Psalm 43:6) This one verse tells us as much about the power and authority of God as we will ever need to know.

God is seated on the throne of Heaven. He reigns over all of His creation. His throne is forever and ever. God is eternal, and His Kingdom never ends. There is no one or no thing that has ever existed or that will ever exist, which does not fall under His authority and power. There is no one who can challenge the reign of God and win.

A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of His Kingdom. The scepter represents His power and authority. The scepter of God is used in righteousness, because He always does the right thing. Also, He extends His scepter to those who come to Him admitting that they are not righteous on their own, but believing that by trusting the Lord Jesus, they can become righteous and thus enter His presence. Everything about God's Kingdom is righteous. There is no evil in Him or in His kingdom.

Therefore, we are very foolish to try to rebel against God or to try to enter His Kingdom in our own righteousness. We will never be successful unless we humbly submit to the Lord of all.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 46-49.
