He is Coming !
The psalmist was correct when he proclaimed, "He is coming." In fact, he was right in 2 ways. (Psalm 96:13) In his time he was letting the whole world know that Jesus was coming to be the Messiah, the Savior of the world, who died for our sins and rose again to prove He is Lord, who can save us. Then, he said, "He is coming to judge the earth." Both are true, because Jesus is coming the second time to judge the earth. Isn't that amazing? He said it twice, and Jesus was coming twice for 2 different reasons.
Now, we should focus on Him coming to judge the world with righteousness and the people with His truth, because His coming could be at any time. The only way to be ready for the Judgment of Jesus is to know Him as Lord and Savior, so that He takes our sins, and He gives us His righteousness. (II Corinthians 5:21) We could never be righteous without Him, so if we are judged without knowing Jesus we fall short of His righteousness, and we fail to live up to His truth. Therefore, we need both of His comings to be ready for eternity in heaven with Him. The psalmist was inspired to tell us this, and we need to be sensitive to hear what the Lord is saying through him.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 98-101.
