The Glory of the Lord

I love to read about the glory of the Lord and to imagine what it was like to be so engulfed in His presence that it is like a thick cloud. That is what happened to the Temple of God after Solomon completed the construction and dedicated it all to the Lord. (I Kings 8:10,11) Wouldn't it be wonderful to be overshadowed by God's glory? I think it would.

God is a person, but God, the Father, does not have a body. However, when people went into the presence of God, they knew they we seeing God, even without seeing a body. God is alive, and He is awesome in power. When we can't see Him, we can still see His presence. That is the glory of God. When He comes into a situation, the people have to stop and wait for Him to take some of the glory away, so they can continue to work.

Now each of us as believers has the presence of God in us. The Spirit indwells us, and we can feel His presence. When we are completely filled with the Spirit, we experience God in a powerful way that empowers us and guides us in His will. It is not a cloud, but it is even better, because we have God living in us. I am so thankful for the glory of the Lord being with us, as believers, on a daily basis. The more we yield to Him, the greater the power in our lives.

Tomorrow, I intend to read I Kings 9-12.
