Lacking Nothing in the Wilderness

Most of us know the story of Israel wandering in the wilderness for 40 years because of disobedience. However, many may not know the whole story. God was with them, and though they numbered over two million men, women, and children, they did not lack anything for those 40 years. (Deuteronomy 2:8) What a marvelous truth for us to learn today!

God is unhappy with us, as His children, when we sin by not trusting Him and obeying Him. He may have to inflict severe punishment on us that lasts for years. However, He never leaves us, and He continues to meet our needs, as we learn our lessons in the wilderness of life. That is how much God loves us and how meticulous He is in caring for us.

Look back over the wilderness times in your life, if you are a believer. Notice how God still took care of you. He still listened to your prayers and comforted you when you called on Him. He still showered you with His blessings in many ways. Yes, you had to take the punishment as consequences of your sin, but He never left you. When it came to an end, you moved on to something better. That is what happened to Israel in that the entire older generation went to Paradise, and the younger generation took over the Promised Land. What a Loving God!

Tomorrow, I intend to read Deuteronomy 3-5.
