The Anointing Oil

Moses took the special anointing oil and anointed everything in the tabernacle. Then, he poured some of it on Aaron, the high priest's head. (Leviticus 8:10,12) This is a very important lesson for all of us.

The anointing with the anointing oil was to consecrate everything to the Lord. That means it was all set apart for His service only. It was not to be used for anything that was not holy. That was also true for Aaron and his sons, as the priests. They were set apart to God's service, and they were not to be involved in anything that was not holy.

The oil was a symbol of the Holy Spirit, especially the anointing oil. That shows us that without the presence of the Spirit, we can't be set apart from the things of the flesh, so that we do what God wants us to do. This is true for all of us today, since all believers are priests. In order to be right with God, we must be filled with the Spirit every day and all day long. That keeps us set apart to God as long was we obey the Spirit in all we do.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Leviticus 11-13.
