Good Ground

Jesus told a parable about a sower who went out to sow the seeds. Not all of them fell on good ground, but the ones that did produced fruit, some thirty-fold, some sixty, and some a hundred. (Mark 4:14,20)  We need to remember the significance of this parable every day.

The seed the sower sows is the Word of God. The soil is our hearts. If we have soft hearts that are ready to hear the Word and accept it, we will bear fruit for the Lord. Therefore, we can tell how good the soil of our heart is by the results when we hear the Word of God or read the Word of God. If we see fruit from it, we are good soil: if we don't we need to prepare our hearts to receive God's Word well.

How much fruit do you find in your life? Fruit is anything that you could not do on your own. It is the fruit of the Spirit, which only God can produce in you. (Galatians 5:22,23) Also, it is the fruit of seeing others saved, because only God can save a soul. If there is no fruit or little fruit, we need to soften our hearts by confessing sins and repenting of them. This will ensure we are good soil for the Word of God, and we will bear fruit for Him.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Mark 5-8.
