Misplaced Trust
People live their lives in brokenness, because they miss God's design for life. Many times they miss it, not because they have not heard that God has a plan for their lives, but because they want to do things their own way, not God's way. They end up trusting in themselves, or in other people or things. This only leads to more and more brokenness. David knew this truth, and he knew the solution.(Psalm 20:7) Please, consider the right place to put your trust.
The world is full of things that are powerful, and they have a powerful attraction for us. In David's day rulers who had a lot of chariots and horses possessed the power to overcome other cities and countries, thus adding to their power and wealth, for a while. However, soon there was someone else with more chariots and horses who came to kill and to destroy what they had gained. Today, we do not trust in chariots and horses, but we trust in things that bring partial happiness and satisfaction, for a while. Then, it all comes crashing down.
Instead of putting our trust in these things that will fail, we need to remember the name of the Lord our God. He is the Almighty One who can deliver us from anything. His specialty is healing the brokenness in our lives and giving us fullness of joy. Jesus came into this world to redeem us from sin and brokenness. He wants us to have life and have it more abundantly.(John 10:10) When we trust in anyone but Jesus, we have misplaced trust. Trust is only as good as the person or thing we trust. Jesus is Eternal God, and our trust in Him can never fail.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 23-25.
