God Controls the Earth and the Oceans
We hear a lot today about how man is destroying the earth, and how the oceans will one day cover the earth. I wish people knew the Bible and believed it as God's Word. That would solve a multitude of problems and disagreements. I know the majority of the people will never believe the Bible, but that must not cause us to be silent about what God has told us. He has assured us that since He controls the earth and the oceans, we should not be afraid.(Psalm 104:5,6,9) Let me share what these three verses affirm for all of us.
God laid the foundations of the earth. He created it, and He holds it in space. It is so stable that it could last forever. However, God does have a plan to burn up this earth and create a new earth without the corrupt of sin.(II Peter 3:8-13) That will not happen because people destroy the earth, but only at God's command. It will only happen after all people have departed from the earth to their eternal destinations.
Yes, there was a world-wide flood in which God covered the earth with the deep, the oceans. That happened in Noah's day, and yes, I believe the Biblical account of what happened when God destroyed the people of the earth, except for Noah's family, because of sin. He gave us the rainbow to show that would not happen again. Then, He set the boundary for the oceans so that they would never again return to cover the earth. Isn't it ironic that the people who are saying the water will cover the earth, do not believe in the Flood of Noah? I think it is, and I think it is sad that they think they are smarter than God.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 105-108.
