Jesus, The Prophet

Most of the time we do not think of Jesus as a prophet, but He was. In fact, He was The Prophet like Moses, who came to deliver the Word of God to the Jewish people and to all of us.(Deuteronomy 18:18) Why is that so important? Let's think about this a little.

Jesus was God who came into the world as a man. We call that the incarnation. He was God and man. Of course, He did that so He could die for us and shed His blood for our sins to pay sin's price, and we could be forgiven of our sins. However, that was not the only reason Jesus came to earth. He came as The Prophet to speak the words, which the Father put in His mouth. In fact, He was spoke all the words the Father put into His mouth. He told us everything we need to know about Him and the way of salvation, plus many other things. God's purpose in making Jesus, The Prophet, was to see who would hear those words. That means He wanted to see who would hear them, believe them, and obey them. If we do not hear God's words from Jesus, He will require it of us. That means we will be held accountable for not believing The Prophet, and we will be punished or corrected for our unbelief.

This is significant since there are many people who say they believe in God, but they don't believe in Jesus, as Lord, and they do not believe His teachings. They has missed the essential words of God delivered by The Prophet of God, so they have missed the truth. Jesus is the Truth and Jesus spoke the Truth for all of us. Therefore, we all must decide to hear His words or not, and that determines our eternal destiny.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Deuteronomy 20-22.
