You Are Surrounded

Do you ever watch western movies? It seems like when they want to set up a tense situation for the good guys, they have them get surrounded by the bad guys. Then, they have to fight their way out. Well, we are surrounded, but it is not the bad guys that are around us. It is our own deeds that surround us.(Hosea 7:2) On top of being surrounded by our own deeds, they are all before God's face, so He knows each one of them very well. That means we will either be defeated by our own deeds, not by another enemy, or we will be rewarded by God because of those deeds. Which will it be for you? What has you surrounded?

Some people want to blame their life situation on someone else or on some external factor. It is very seldom that way. God blesses us and delivers us based on what He sees in us and on our deeds. We either sink or swim in life, because of our choices and decisions. They all surround us, so that God does not have to blame us for wrong. It is evident from all of our works.

On the other hand, some people take responsibility for their actions. They know that we must have a pure heart and do what is right, no matter who sees us or who knows what we have done. These people build a case for themselves before the face of God. We have to be genuine and have the right motives for what we do, we can't just be trying to impress God. However, when our hearts are right, our deeds commend us to God. Remember what God told Satan about Job. He told him that Job did what was right and stayed away from what was wrong. God knew all of his deeds, and He bragged on Job to the Devil.

We have to decide what we will do. Will we surround ourselves with good deeds or evil deeds? What will God have against us or for us, when we stand before Him? It will all be based on our lives, nothing else.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Hosea 10-12.
