The Results of Persistent Unfaithfulness of a Nation
God promises to stretch out His hand against any land or nation that is persistently unfaithful to Him.(Ezekiel 14:13) Many prophecies in the Old Testament are very specifically given for one country at one particular time. This is a promise that is given in general to all nations, because God's nature does not change, and He treats every nation in a just way, showing mercy, but not sparing any nation that sins. We need to hear what the prophet Ezekiel told us about God's actions toward a land that is persistently unfaithful.
God will stand against a sinful nation by cutting off the "supply of bread," sending a famine, and cutting off man and beast from the land. That is very severe but just punishment for persistent sin. The people will experience a lack of food, which could be the result of poverty. There are more people living in poverty in the USA by the government standard now than at any time since the Great Depression. God will send a famine, which could just be the price of food going too high for people to afford. I see both of those happening. Also, He will cut off man and beast, meaning people and animals will die. I believe we could be beginning to see that happening in many ways through disease and other factors. However, what would happen if true warfare ever came to the USA? That would cut off man and beast.
We need to wake up to the cause of our difficulties in the USA. It is not political, so much as it is persistent unfaithfulness to God. If we do not pray earnestly and experience an awakening, I believe these things will continue to get worse and worse. God has promised that, and I believe Him.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 15-17.
