A Murky Spring and a Polluted Well

Would you drink water out of a murky spring or a polluted well? I doubt it. That is how a sinful person views a believer who falters and sins in front of him.(Proverbs 25:26) It makes him not sure he can trust anything he says, and it gives him a reason not to heed what he is saying. This is a serious situation, to say the least.

There are a lot of non-Christian people who do not have a problem with Jesus, but they have a problem with Christians they have met. They see Christians act in ungodly ways, and it turns them against the Lord. We must be very careful not to be the cause of even one person doubting God. I know we don't cause them to reject God, they do that in their own free will. However, we could be partly to blame for their hard hearts, if they see us sin. I also know that we are not perfect, and sometimes, we will fail. In that event we need to confess our sin and repent, so that we can go to those who know about it and ask for their forgiveness. This is a way of showing a sinful person that we take what we believe seriously, and we care about him.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Proverbs 26-28.
