Love and Holiness

A Christian will not advance in holiness just by trying to be more faithful and obedient to God. Love is the essential ingredient.(I Thessalonians 3:12,13) When we increase and abound in love, the result will be that we will become blameless in holiness before God. It is a simple concept, but many people miss it.

Love is the highest motivation for life. When we are acting in love, we go beyond what is required, and we give our all to please the other person and do what is right. That goes for loving God, loving other believers, and for loving everyone else. Therefore, an abounding love brings us to abounding holiness. We stay away from the wrong, and we do the right things toward God and others.

Therefore, our goal should be to allow God to "make" us abound in love. This means we need His love to fill us. His love is unselfish, unconditional love that goes all the way. Then, we can and will seek to do His will when we relate to Him and to people. When we do that, and we stay away from the sin, we become blameless in holiness. That is the goal for each believer, so we will be ready for the coming of Jesus.

Tomorrow, I intend to read I Thessalonians 5 and II Thessalonians 1-2.
