When We Lose Our Song

I wish I could write nice uplifting posts every day, but that is not how life goes. We have ups and downs. The key is to make sure that we have God leading us and blessing us through all that happens in our lives. Without Him we lose our song.(Ezekiel 26:13) He can give us joy, or He can cause the joy to cease very abruptly. Life is much better when we have a song in our hearts and on our lips.

Ezekiel develops the analogy of spiritually adultery and harlotry against the Lord fully. Marriage is a picture of our relationship with God. When we know Him, we enter into covenant with Him, and we are married to Christ. If we follow idols and reject Him, we are committing spiritual adultery, we are playing the harlot against Him. This sin breaks God's heart the way it breaks the heart of a spouse. It causes God to have to make hard decisions about our relationship. Finally, He brings on the punishment to try to bring us to reality. In those dark times of destruction and pain, we lose our song. It is very sad.

However, that is not God's will. He wants to walk with each of us and to put a song in our hearts. He wants us to go through life singing His praises and living in joy. If you have lost your song, it is a direct result of not having the right relationship with the Lord. Return to Him fully, and He will restore your song.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 27-29.
