Correction and Instruction
Life is a series of decisions and adjustments. Your life is determined by how you handle everything that happens to you. You can respond wisely or foolishly. The key is how you make the decisions and the adjustments. The All-wise, All-loving God wants to help you, but you have to ask Him.(Psalm 139:23,24)
Years ago, I read a quote that was very insightful. The essence of the quote was that it is not enough to desire to do the right thing in life. We must hate sin at the same time. Therefore, we could say we must hate sin and love righteousness in order for our lives to be all God designed them to be. I believe that to be true.
God is in the correction and instruction business. He is very willing and very able to show us our sins, so we can change our hearts and actions away from the wrong things. Also, He is the only One who can show us exactly what to do to live rightly. He designed us, and He knows everything that is going on in the universe. If we believe this, we will be quick to agree with the psalmist. We will ask God to show us any wicked way in us, and to lead us in the way everlasting, and we will do this every day, even several times a day.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 140-143.
