Don't Pick Them Up Again
I love to read I Peter 5:6-8 and to be reminded of how much God cares for each of us. The Lord cares, but we must do what He desires to receive all He has for us.
I Peter 5:6 reminds us to "humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time." It is hard to be humble. We want to do things our way and in our time. However, if we want God's help, we must humble ourselves before Him and wait for His timing to be lifted up.
Then, we are to be "casting our cares upon Him, for He cares for you." We take our cares to Him and leave them there for Him to handle. We must not pick them up again after giving them to Him. That is not humble, and it is not really trusting in His power.
Finally, we have to remember that our adversary is the devil, and we can't defeat him by ourselves. If we try, we are doomed to fail. However, if we are trusting the Lord, we always have the power of God to use against Him, and he can't overcome the Lord's power.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Peter 2-3 and I John 1.
