Impacting Lostness

The message of the Bible is clear. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no one comes to the Father, except through Him.(John 14:6) Life is not about religion. It is about a relationship with God through knowing Jesus, as Lord and Savior.

I had a good conversation with Tommy Kennedy at lunch today about how we can reach people who have never gone to church and never really heard the Good News of Jesus. He is starting a unique ministry in Henry county called GSquared. It is His dream to see small groups of new believers meeting in homes all over our county and to see these groups multiply until everyone has the opportunity to know Jesus. He is not against church in the traditional sense. However, he knows we won't reach everyone through traditional churches in buildings. We have to move out into the communities where people live. It has to be a more "organic" movement.

Tommy's vision is much the same one that God has laid on my heart, but he is just not the pastor of a local church like I am. I believe God wants me to pursue this goal through our church. It will take all kinds of ministries to reach our world for Christ. It will take large, medium, and small traditional churches, as well as house churches and other non-traditional churches. We are not competing. We are all in the same quest. Our goal is not to grow a church. Our goal is to impact lostness to the point that multitudes come to know Christ and everyone has heard the Good News of Jesus.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Acts 14-17.
