Report on the Guys

Well, there are 43 guys of all ages in the woods in the mountains, what do you think is going on? They are eating real well. Can you smell the grilled cheese sandwiches and chicken noodle soup? Oh yeah, there was the smell of hot chocolate in the air, too. This morning they could not get started without coffee, eggs, bacon, sausage, and more of the grilled cheese sandwiches. Lunch was fine turkey and chicken sandwiches with all the trimmings. In addition to the physical food, they were feasting on the Word of God as a group and in their quiet times with the Lord.

Also, there was lots of bicycle riding on the roads and on trails. It is pretty macho to climb the mountain on a bike. There were runs around the lake and hikes in the woods. The lake was the place for the kayak races and fishing. Also, there were books read and naps taken. Like I said, it was Saturday, and these are guys.

In the morning there will be a worship time at the top of the mountain, real close to God and enjoying the views of His creation. The challenge will be to become an expert on some part of the Bible, and there will be five Psalms read. These will be discussed for their theology and applications. Then, there will be a fast ride down the mountain on bikes by the older youth and young adults. Speed is a guy thing, too. All in all, it will end up being a time of father/son bonding and friendship growing that will bring a smile to God's face.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Zechariah 14 and Malachi 1-2.
