Praying For Our Country

When Judah departed from the Lord, and He was sending the prophets to warn them of His punishment for their rebellion, God was looking for someone to pray for their country.(Ezekiel 22:30) In fact, this verse says that He was looking for a "man among them." He wanted a person living in the country of Judah to pray. Sadly, He could not find one man to pray on behalf of Judah, so He destroyed it.

Could God be looking for someone to pray for America today? He may be looking for one person, or He may be looking for a group of righteous people like He did before He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. Either way, if He doesn't find what He is looking for, we are in trouble as a country. When God unleashes His punishment, it is always very effective and complete.

I believe it would be in our best interest to listen to the Lord and to do whatever He says for us to do. If He wants us to fast and pray, we should do it. If He wants us, as individuals or as groups, to pray for our President and leaders we had better do it. It is not time to sit on the sideline and watch. It is time for all believers to get into the game and be involved in prayer and action to turn our country away from God's destruction.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 23-26.
