Seeing The Spiritual Darkness

We live in a dark world, no matter where we live. Do we see it when we go out of our houses? Do we recognize it when we go to the mall, or are we oblivious to the darkness? Do we think that darkness is normal?

We went to the mall in Nagoya. We walked about a mile there and back. We saw thousands of people. We saw one church. We saw one lady with a shirt that said Jesus on the front and had a cross with a heart on the back. Also, I saw one western lady with a cross necklace. Then, we passed one church in the midst of dozens of shrines and temples. Those were the only displays of Christianity we saw all day. Instead, we were surrounded by darkness. People trying to be recognized in the crowds by how they dressed. Empty faces and lives were all around, so much darkness crying out for a little light to shine into it.

My walk to the mall did not simply speak to me about the spiritual state of Japan this time. God laid the darkness of the whole world upon me. The world is sinking in immorality, in debt, and in selfishness. The darkness is so great that even the intelligent people can't find the solution. However, we can be certain that Satan is behind it all. He is working diligently to engulf the world in darkness and lead millions to hell. We must see the darkness and engage the darkness around us and around the world by shining the light of Christ from our lives to theirs. It is not an option. It is a command.

Today, I read Song of Solomon 1-3.
